The Legacy Continues

Every scholarship represents more than financial assistance. It represents an investment in a student's potential, dreams, and future. Our scholarship recipients are students who have demonstrated academic commitment, leadership, character, and a desire to make a difference in their communities.

Meet some of the students whose futures are being strengthened through the generosity of the Tolleson community and the Tolleson UHSD Legacy Foundation.

Kevyn - University High School

Kevyn Islas Verdugo is preparing for a future in engineering, driven by a strong work ethic and a commitment to academic achievement. His experience in AP and dual-enrollment courses, Spanish Honor Society, and employment with BEK Electric and Welding has helped him develop discipline, leadership, independence, and problem-solving skills.

Kevyn plans to work toward his engineering degree while gaining valuable professional experience through internships and other opportunities.

The TUHSD Legacy Foundation scholarship will help with essential college expenses such as housing, food, textbooks, and academic materials, helping Kevyn stay focused on his education and graduate with as little debt as possible.

Katherine - University High School

Katherine Block is passionate about understanding people, cultures, and the human experience. She plans to pursue research in neuroscience and anthropology, with the goal of developing a broader understanding of humanity and contributing to research that better represents and serves communities.

Her experiences in Speech and Debate, Dungeons & Dragons, college-level coursework, volunteering, and supporting her peers have strengthened her confidence, communication skills, curiosity, and desire to help others. The TUHSD Legacy Foundation scholarship will help Katherine continue her education and pursue the research, internships, and community opportunities that will prepare her to make a lasting impact through science, education, and service.

Emiliano plans to combine scholarships, grants, employment, and careful financial planning to fund his college education while minimizing debt. He credits the encouragement of his family and the teachers who helped build his confidence for motivating him to continue pursuing his goals. The TUHSD Legacy Foundation scholarship will provide meaningful financial support as Emiliano works toward his degree and prepares for his professional career.

Through volleyball, HOSA, community events, and volunteer service, Neilaly has grown in confidence, leadership, and her commitment to her community.
